Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported…

October 22

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no visible tag lights. The driver had a suspended license. He was arrested and transported to jail.

October 23

Officers were dispatched in reference to a male subject being hit by a vehicle. The male stated he did not know who the female was and he could not see due to the sun. The driver had injuries to the backside of his left shoulder and to his left knee.

Officers were dispatched in reference to a woman running and screaming “He’s trying to kill me” in a panic. The female being saying she had “snakes in her pants” and that her boyfriend was trying to kill her because his family chose a prettier bride for him to marry. The female was transported to Emanuel medical for further evaluation.

Officers or dispatched in reference to a stolen tacklebox. The tack box was in a boat that was parked at a local store. They are unsure of who stole the tackle box, but they are pulling surveillance footage.

October 24

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle crossing the centerline with over half of the vehicle. The officer could smell the strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. The driver stated he failed to maintain the lane due to reaching for his cell phone that he dropped. The mail failed the field sobriety test and was arrested for a DUI.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from within the vehicle. The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle. He stated he had only one beer about an hour before the stop. The driver failed all of the sobriety test and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Officer made contact with a man at a convenient store. The man’s eyes were glazed over, his speech was thick, and the officer smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him. The officer asked if he had anything to drink, he stated that he had about six beer starting at about 4 PM, but was not drunk. He agreed to do some field sobriety testing. He failed the sobriety testing. He was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

October 25

Officers were dispatched in reference to a report of a female jumping on another female and stealing a phone and wallet. The females were fighting and one stole the other one’s wallet and phone and drove away. Officer spoke with another officer over the radio asking if they had enough information to arrest the suspect due to you everything said and done. He did, so she was being detained for simple battery and theft, and transported to jail.

October 26

Officers were dispatched in reference to disoriented person. The mail stated that he fell asleep while in the vehicle catching a ride from a guy who seemed Nice, but when he awoke, he was being grabbed in the genitals.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was crossing over the center and yellow line multiple times. The officer stated her eyes were glassy, and she stated that she had taken three Suboxone pills a few hours prior. She was asked to give a blood sample and she agreed. She was arrested and transported to jail.

October 28

Officers were dispatched in reference to a break-in. They were approached by a female Who stated her AC unit was out of her window with the door wide open when she arrived home. Nothing appeared to be missing that she knew of.

Officers were dispatched in reference to taking a report on an unknown person slashing a females back rear tire on her vehicle that she had to get fixed that day.

Officers were dispatched in reference to a domestic dispute. A mother stated she went to pick up her daughter from work, and her daughter has schizophrenia. She stated she was unable to drive with her daughter in the car due to her being overly angry. The mother pulled over and told her to get out. The daughter made Multiple threats to her mother, and the mother no longer felt safe with her daughter living at home. The officer explained the process of addiction and how to obtain a TPO order.

October 29

While participating in license and registration check, offender went through the check point and wasn’t able to present a valid driver license. Offender was sent to a secondary location at which point he presented an ID card and passport that came back invalid.

Officer was waved down by a Huddle House employee who stated one of their workers were receiving harassing phone calls from an ex-boyfriend. Victim was scared to drive alone and stay at work by herself in fear that offender would harm her. Offender was a former employee who had been fired a few weeks earlier. On 10/27, officers were dispatched by 911 to Huddle House for a former employee who refused to leave, who was the offender.

Officer was patrolling the area of Flanders St. when he ran the tag of a vehicle and it came back with suspended registration and no insurance. Upon making contact with the vehicle, a clear sandwich bag containing an off-white rock substance believed to be crack cocaine was observed. It was also found that the driver’s license was suspended.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment where complainant stated that he and his girlfriend were arguing about the AC being on all the time even when it’s cold outside. He also stated that she snatched the covers off of him and he is fed up with it. Both parties agreed to make it work.
