Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported…

September 17

Officers were dispatched in reference to a call that came into the police department about a report. The male stated a tag was stolen off of his vehicle that was parked in the rear of their truck shop within the last 6 months. 

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had suspended registration and no valid insurance. The vehicle was towed. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to disorderly conduct. Two mothers began a verbal altercation, allegedly it all began at school when the offender’s daughter made provoking comments to the complainant’s daughter. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to the caller making a report of two other females were harassing her daughter, texting her and threatening to fight her at school.

Officer conducted a traffic stop due to the vehicle having no insurance. The driver stated he had insurance and the officer attempted to contact the insurance company to verify, but was unable to contact them at that time. He issued him a citation and had the vehicle towed.

Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle to avoid an accident due to their driving. The officer could smell marijuana in the vehicle and there was marijuana on the lid of a foam cup in the center cupholder. The driver was asked to step out of the car and was arrested. The vehicle was towed. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to criminal trespassing. Complainant stated that three unknown males threw eggs and toilet paper at her front porch and then ran off. 

September 18

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have valid insurance. The officer asked the driver for his license and he stated it was suspended. He was arrested and transported to jail. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a damaged vehicle. Class of 2022 was written on the windshield, several deep scratches were on the hood, front bumper, and both front quarter panels. Damages were consistent with more extreme homecoming festivities. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a caller wanting to report someone putting sugar in her gas tank. She filed a report for the damage on her vehicle. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a report of stolen money. The alleged offender was a former employee and quit after being confronted. Surveillance will be given to the police department.

Officer observed a vehicle driving with no lights on and conducted a traffic stop. The driver stated his license was suspended for child support. He stepped out and was arrested. Officer was informed that there was a valid warrant and parole wished place a no bond hold. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a man stating he went to a local liquor store and he stepped around the back of the building to urinate and when he walked but up to the front, his dog was missing. He claims a female at the store stole his dog. The employees at the liquor store stated a dog showed up and they posted it on social media in attempt to find its owner. The complainant was highly intoxicated and belligerent and kept trying to get in the offers face. He was told to go home or go to jail. This is the second night that he had been out in public highly intoxicated with the law called both nights. 

September 19

Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that had a headlight not working. The driver jumped out and grabbed a phone off the trunk of the vehicle and the passenger then exited the vehicle at which point they switched sears. The officer asked the driver for her license, but she stated she did not have it with her. The passenger who was now in the driver seat stepped out of the vehicle and informs the officer that the driver wanted to speak with the officer. The driver stated she was sorry, but she gave the officer the wrong name because her license is suspended and she gave him the wrong name because she didn’t want to go to jail. She stated she was only driving because everyone else in the vehicle was intoxicated. The officer placed her in the back of his patrol vehicle until he could figure out what was going on. The passenger who was now in the driver seat was asked how much she had to drink and a sobriety test was done on her, but she was above the legal limit. The officer informed them that they can have a licensed driver come pick them up, but if she was caught driving that she would get a DUI. The passengers and vehicle were turned over to a licensed driver. Officer got the original driver finger printed and she was allowed to wait until a friend could pick her up. No citation was issued for the headlight or false information. 

Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that had expired registration. The driver stated he did not have a license and it had been suspended years prior for a DUI. He was arrested and transported to jail. 

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no valid insurance. The driver did not speak any English, but gave the officer his insurance card and the officer ran the information stating that he did have insurance. He was issued a citation for driving while unlicensed. 

Officer approached an unoccupied vehicle with two flat tires and a backseat full of tools. Officer ran the VIN and discovered the vehicle is from out of state and the registration was expired. The officer was able to locate the owner of the vehicle and contact his mother. Officer was able to contact the male and asked about the tires on the vehicle. He stated that a friend was driving it and messed the two tires up, but it was obvious the vehicle struck a curb at one point. The owner stated his friend drove it, but when the officer asked the friends name, the owner stated he couldn’t remember his name, then changed the. The vehicle was towed due to the conditions. 

September 21

Officers were dispatched in reference to an unwanted person refusing to leave. The two started yelling and fighting about relations that were made with others, leading to physical altercation. The female attempted to drive off, but the male dove inside of her vehicle and snatched them from the ignition. The officers did notice scratches, a torn collar, and blood coming from her nose. The male subject stated that the female came over, unwanted in his home and started hitting him. The male did have a torn shirt as well and a scratch to the face. He stated that he only had her keys because she dropped them while she was inside. The officer stated there was not enough evidence to prove what happened, but they were advised of the warrant process and they needed to separate. 

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a brake light not working. The driver stated he was so nervous because he had never been stopped by the police before. He was asked to step out of the vehicle. The officer asked him why he was sweating so much and he stated it was because the vehicle did not have air conditioning. He was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and he stated no. There was a soda can with a false compartment in the glovebox with a green leafy substance inside believed to be marijuana. The officer placed the driver under arrest and had the vehicle towed. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a vehicle that caught on fire due to the sparks from the battery. 

September 22

Officers were dispatched in reference to a vehicle that had no insurance and the driver’s license was suspended for failure to appear. The mother was contacted and informed. The driver was then transported to jail. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a report of damage to a vehicle. The complainant stated that the wrecker attempted to tow his truck, so he would not get out of it and messed up the vehicle. Officer did not see any obvious damage besides some broken wires. The officer ran the complainants name in the system and he was then arrested due to having a warrant through Claxton Police. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to harassing communications. Complainant stated that she received two text messages from an unknown person claiming that “he had already been paid to kill her” and that “he had been hired by a friend of the complainant’. The complainant was unaware of any ongoing disputes with the other person. Officer stated it could be a scam due to the poor grammar. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a report on an unwanted person. Complainant stated that her neighbor came over and stared an argument with her and her guy friend. The neighbor would not leave and was asking for beer and getting into an argument about their relationship. The officer got the neighbors information and left. 

September 23

Officers were dispatched in reference to disorderly conduct between two females. The issue started at school, but they were advised to not make any contact with her to avoid a physical altercation. 

Officers were dispatched in reference to a forgery report. A male wrote a check in another person’s name and an employee at the bank caught the difference in handwriting. He wrote a check for $150 without permission. He was issued a warrant and charged of forgery in the fourth degree.
