Officers with the Swainsboro Police Department (SPD) reported…
April 27
Complainant went to SPD to make a report about losing her license.
April 30
Officer was dispatched by 911 to Dollar Tree in reference to a vehicle door hitting another vehicle’s door, causing minor damage.
Officer met with complainant in reference to an entering auto. C/o reported that she observed some papers that were inside her center console were removed and her fuse box cover was removed. Officer observed several scratch marks at the top of the driver side door, that were consistent with a wedge device.
SPD received an email from GISAC in reference to suspected criminal activity that had taken place in Swainsboro. Offenders info was sent over in reference to obtaining fraudulent PPP loans that the subjects supposedly received.
Officer came into contact with a vehicle with its hazard lights on going 61 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, at which time the officer activated his emergency equipment and caught up with the vehicle. When making contact with the driver, he stated he was in a hurry to pick up a delivery before 4:10 p.m. on Lambs Bridge Rd. Officer asked for his license, which he provided, and it was found that his license were suspended.
Officer observed a vehicle make a left turn without using a turn signal, at which time she initiated a traffic stop. Officers arrived for backup and gained consent to search the vehicle. During the search, 2 yellow capsules were found without a medicine bottle or prescription. Offender was also unsteady on her feet and had slurred speech. GSP arrived on scene and conducted a field sobriety test and found her to be under the influence of drugs.
Officer responded to W. Moring St. to assist the Fire Dept. in a trailer in the roadway that was on fire.
Officer was dispatched by 911 to Lucky St. in reference to a dog attacking a man. On arrival, officer observed several dogs in front of the residence not on leashes or inside pens. Officer spoke with victim who stated when he went to get his mail, one of the dogs went after him, trying to bite him.
May 1
Officer learned the ECSO arrested offender on 4/27/21 and was aware of active probation warrants on offender.
A vehicle went through a license checkpoint and it was determined that offender’s license were suspended as well as the registration on the vehicle.
Officer responded to the Sunset Inn in reference to a dispute. Upon arrival, officer spoke with the hotel manager who stated a couple was drunk and arguing. Officers had responded 20 mins. Earlier and spoke with offenders and advised them that they had to keep the volume down because of complaints. The hotel manager stated that if offender was not arrested, he wanted the other party to leave the hotel.
May 2
Officer was on duty at Jordan Estates, Spring Gardens, and Hickory Trace apartment detail. He was parked at Spring Gardens and saw smoke from above Jordan Estates. 911 notified officer at the same time that there was a vehicle on fire at Jordan Estates. Officers arrived on scene to find a vehicle fully involved on fire. Officers evacuated all occupants of A building to the back of the building. The Fire Dept., extinguished the fire. Officers obtained victims information. She stated that she last saw the vehicle when it was parked around 8 p.m. There were two other victims that had possible damage to their vehicles which were parked beside the burning vehicle. Officer obtained video footage from the apartment cameras which showed an apparent male subject beside the vehicle and apparently light something and throw it at the vehicle. The video also showed a lighting and explosion of the vehicle and the offender ran from the vehicle with his distal right arm on fire. Offender ran South away from the vehicle. The video also showed offender putting something in the dumpster. Officers searched the dumpster and on top, they found a plastic jug with an odor of gasoline in it. Detective arrived with his K-9 and tracked the subject to the residence on Emanuel Rd. Officers secured the outside of the residence and received clarification from detective that subject was inside but would not come out. After an extended wait, officer talked with offender inside the residence via cell phone and he went out with commands, turning the porch light on. Offender had a burn on the distal part of his right arm that was pink and weeping, consistent with a fresh burn within the last few hours. Offender stated he got the burn grilling the day before. After obtaining more video footage, officer stated that a described vehicle was seen leaving the scene of the crime, but did not know who was driving that vehicle. The described vehicle was located in offender’s back yard. EMS checked offender and did not transport him. Offender was taken to EMC to be evaluated for his burn.
Officer made contact with a male subject on N. Main St. who was unsteady on his feet and trying to cross the roadway. Officer had already encountered the offender earlier and was instructed to go inside and not be back in the public due to him being severely intoxicated.
Officer was dispatched by 911 to Thigpen Dr. in reference to a bullet hole in the bedroom window. Upon arrival, officer observed what appeared to be a bullet holed in a middle window on the front of the residence. C/o stated that no one had heard gunshots through the light and had just noticed the hole in the window. A small piece of lead was observed inside of the window between the panes of the glass.
Officer responded to Mojo’s Car Wash in reference to damage to a vehicle. Upon arrival, offender advised that the front decal of her vehicle was damaged while going through the car wash.
Officer responded to Calhoun St. in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, complainant stated she and her boyfriend got into a heated verbal dispute and she wanted him to leave the residence.
Officer observed offender walking down S. Main St. and was known to be wanted for a FTA bench warrant. Contact was made with offender and an arrest was made without incident.
May 3
Officer stopped a vehicle for no tag. The driver was from out of state and told the officer she bought the vehicle in April and was waiting on the title to be cleared. She did not have any proof of insurance, but she stated to the officer she did have insurance. The officer ran her information in the system and it came back showing her license is valid, but no insurance or registration for the vehicle. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to someone breaking property. The victim stated she heard noises outside of her house and when she checked it later on that night, she noticed a broken flower pot on her porch. 
May 4
Officers were dispatched in reference to a stolen firearm. Complainant stated that sometime in the middle of the night someone stole her 9 MM handgun. She is not sure who would have stolen it, but there is not damage to the vehicle as it was left unlocked. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to a report stating the night of May 4th, the offenders came to her residence and started blowing the horn trying to get her to come outside to fight them. She stated that they drove and parked in the back of her neighbors yard and were waiting. She states this is and ongoing situation with the group of offenders and harassing her. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to a man stating that two of his hens and one of his roosters had been killed by whom he believed to be the dog next door. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to a theft. Local store owner stated that he had an unknown male enter his store looking around and put a wallet in his right pocket. After viewing the video footage, you can see the man walking in and sliding the wallet into his pocket. The wallet is worth $42. 
Officers were approached by a woman stating she went to Augusta and tried to use a $20 and the cashier advised her that it was a fake $20 bill. The $20 did not contain a security strip and seemed to be fake, the currency was marked as legal tender. It is now placed into evidence. 
Officers were contacted in reference to a woman stating that her middle console in her vehicle had been rummaged through, he doors were unlocked, but she is not sure who it could have been. 
May 5
Officers were dispatched in reference to damage to a vehicle with the offender still on the scene. She stated that her and her boyfriend had a verbal argument. She stated he threw her clothes out of the car and was about to leave, but he had been drinking. She told her friend to park her car infant of their car so he couldn’t leave. He pushed the friends car a few feet with his car. Then out of anger because he couldn’t leave, he threw the keys at the friends car, breaking the left windshield. The friend stated this was exactly what happened. He was placed under arrest and transported to jail for destruction of property. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to someone entering a females vehicle during the night and taking her wallet. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to entering auto. Complainant stated she got out of her car and walked in her residence and the car door was opened as well as the compartment doors. She states she is missing five $100 bills and $10 in change as well as approximately 29 prescribed Adderall pills. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to dogs chasing children on bicycles. Officer stated the dogs were friendly towards them, but this has already been an issue in the past with a citation. The offender was issued a citation for dog at large and was informed it could be a citation for each dog if it were to happen again. 
Officers were dispatched to a woman who stated that she got out of her car at a local business and a man pulled up and snatched her keys out of her hand and then pulled a gun. He stated the car had not been drove, but the officer informed him the car was still warm. Nothing further at this time. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to an entering auto. Owner stated the center console and glove compartment were opened and that an unauthorized individual had been inside the vehicle. No items were missing. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to and entering auto. Owner states an unauthorized person entered the vehicle and went through the center console and the glove compartment. Wedge mark was on the left part of the car door. 
Officers were dispatched in reference to entering auto. The owner stated that her glove compartment and center console were tampered with when she walked out to the vehicle that morning. 
May 6
Officer was dispatched to Bernis in reference to a male refusing to leave the establishment. Upon arrival, contact was made with offender who stated he was cleaning up and officer informed him that he did not work there and the establishment wanted him to leave and had asked him to do so three times prior to officer’s arrival. Offender was seen pouring potting soil out of flower pots. Offender began walking towards the trash cans with an ash tray and dumped the ashes out and began to push the trash cans. Office told offender to stop messing with the trash and he began to reach into his pockets at which time he was ordered to stop reaching and he pulled out a hand full of stuff and threw a Newport box down a hole up against the building. Offender was arrested for being evasive and ignoring commands.
Officer took a walk-up report in reference to damage to her vehicle.
Officer took a report of three minor children being abandoned in an apartment on Racetrack St. Complainant stated the mother is on drugs and this has happened in the past and she occasionally lease the kids alone.
Officer recognized a male subject known to have an active probation warrant for his arrest enter a residence on Williams St. Contact was made with offender and an arrest was made.
Officer made contact with offender who had an outstanding warrant. Offender was taken into custody without incident.
Officer met with complainant in reference to a harassment report. C/o advised that a male subject that lives on Gumlog Rd. directly across the street from her has been constantly harassing her on a daily basis for about 2 months. C/o does not know his name, but knows he is from Atlanta, and has asked him to leave her alone and stop talking to her.
Officer observed a vehicle travel down W. Pine St. going the wrong way on a one-way street, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. When the officer exited his vehicle and began to approach the vehicle, it accelerated at a quick rate. The vehicle fled and failed to stop at a couple stop signs and was traveling at an extreme rate of speed. Officer was trying to catch up with the vehicle and noticed the vehicle had crashed and saw the offender fleeing. K-9 Maya arrived and tracked offender appx. 200 yards in a wooded area.
