Six recreation department teams headed to State

The Swainsboro-Emanuel County Parks and Recreation Departments had six teams qualify for their respective State Tournaments. The 8U, 10U and 12U Girls Softball All-Stars all brought home gold by winning their 2022 GRPA Class A/B District 1 Championships played June 6 – June 9.

The SECRD hosted the 8U Girls and 12U Girls District Tournaments at the Ronnie Womack Softball Complex located inside the Billy C. Carmichael Recreation Complex. The hometown teams both won their tournaments cashing their tickets to the GRPA State Tournament. The 8U Girls will travel to Effingham County for state and the 12U Girls will travel to Lyons both June 21-24.

The 10U Girls Softball All-Stars won their District Championship in Vidalia. They will travel to Moultrie-Colquitt County for their State Tournament June 21-23.

The 10U Boys Baseball All-Stars finished as the Runner-up in the District 1 Tournament in Vidalia. They will now travel to Statesboro June 21-25 for the State Tournament.

The 14U Boys Baseball All-Stars also finished as Runner-up in the District 1 Tournament in Lyons. They will travel to Augusta June 21-25 for the State Tournament.

The 12U Boys Baseball All-Stars finished in third place in the District 1 Tournament in Effingham County. They will join the 10U All-stars in Statesboro who will host the State Tournament June 21-25.
