Shuemake speaks to Rotary

The Swainsboro Rotary Club met on Monday, July 25, at the Rustic Grill during the noon hour. In the absence of President Kenneth Willoughby, Cason Devane filled in. He brought the meeting to order and led the club in the invocation, pledge and four-way test. After brief discussion, Milton Gray introduced his guest, Ronnie Shumake and wife, Linda. Ronnie is in charge of the “Bookbags for Kids” program that was held Saturday, July 30, at MLK and North Green Street. This is a program that Ronnie started many years ago and he gives out bookbags and school supplies to underserved children in our community. There are several churches in the community that assist in handing out the bags. Ronnie and his wife feel led to mentor to these young children and spread the gospel by providing this service and meeting other needs in Swainsboro and Emanuel County. Shumake works to support funding for this program with donations from a host of community supporters. After his presentation, the meeting was adjourned.
