Mr. Shelton L. Bivens. 77, of Stillmore, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 07, 2021, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Bivens served in the US Army, 8th Infantry Division, and the 2nd Armored Division in Germany during the Berlin Crisis of the early 1960s. After his military service, he spent 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver. He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors all his life, an excellent mechanic who built and drove his own race car, and built and raced RC boats and airplanes. Mr. Bivens is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ethel Fouse and Orville Shomaker; 3 brothers, J.W. Bivens, Tommy Joe Bivens, and Chris Shomaker; and one sister, Linda Foster. A native of Texas, Mr. Bivens moved to Georgia in 2012, following his retirement so his wife could be near her family.
Mr. Bivens is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 45 years, Delorous Bird Bivens; one son, Scott Bivens (Brandi) of Houston, TX; one daughter, Jody Mooney (Stacey Ethridge) of Hopulikit; 2 step-daughters, Barb Domen (Bruce) of Florida and Karen Welch (Nicky) of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Boynton, Klarissa, Brandon, and Hollis Welch, Brooke and Haleigh Bivens, Dustin Parker, Brenna Boudreau, Taylor Thomas, and Jeremy Martin; 3 great-grandchildren, Ivy McDonald, Sophia Welch, and Nova Boynton; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as close friend, Tommy Green.
