SES staff walking challenge


Swainsboro Elementary School received a SHAPE grant from the department of education for the 2022-2023 school year. Under the supervision of Tammy Allen, Family Connection Coordinator, health, and nutrition programs were carried out. The STEAM classes for all grade levels were able to be taught cooking and food source education by Ms. Allen and other Family Connection volunteers. Classes on spinach, carrots, kale, strawberries, and flatbread were conducted with partial funding from the SHAPE grant and the Charlie Cart Project. In addition, the staff was encouraged to participate in a Walking Challenge. The goal was to walk 10,000 steps per day for improved health. The grant provided funds for tips and
