Senior Spotlight: Nekel Bostic

Posted

Senior defensive end Nekel Bostic has worked hard to become a terrific football player. An edge rusher on the defense, Bostic is tasked with setting that edge to keep running backs from getting outside for big yardage, but also for wreaking havoc in the backfield as he puts pressure on the quarterback. Bostic has proven to be a leader on the field and making tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

“Nekel is a kid that has done everything we have asked of him for the last three years,” said head coach Scott Roberts. “He has worked his way into being a really good football player. He is a great example of what going to work every day and doing your job will do for you.”

During Swainsboro’s homecoming game against Cross Creek, Bostic showed how disruptive he could be with 4 tackles for loss, including 2 sacks.

“I love to get hyped,” said Bostic. “Any team we face, every Friday night, I’m hyped to play the sport I love.”

Bostic knows that he is counted on to do his job and perform his role at the highest possible level, but he tries to be a calming influence as well when emotions are high on the field and help his teammates maintain their composure.

“I’m humble and calm and just play my role,” responded Bostic when asked to describe how he sees himself as a football player.

Just another cog in the machine. That’s truly a humble way to look at it when you’re talking about a defense that runs through offensive lines like they weren’t even there. Here’s to a sensational senior season and a better young man. Bostic, through hard work and humility, is set to push this team to big things in the race for another region championship.
