Senior Spotlight: Ja’Michael Murphy

High school football programs depend on players tapping into their physical potential and working hard to toughen themselves mentally to be an important cog in a successful team. Ja’Michael Murphy is that type of player. He plays offensive and defensive line for Swainsboro and makes a difference each Friday night.

“I’m a great high school player who does his job on and off the field,” said Murphy.

His head coach agrees with him and appreciates what Murphy brings to the team. “Ja'Michael is another great kid that is the definition of a program player,” said head coach Scott Roberts. “He is an undersized kid on the OL, but the fight he brings every Friday night has made him a very productive player for us. He's been on the field in some big situations throughout his career, and he has answered the challenge in a big way.”

At 5’10” and 230 LBS, Murphy isn’t small by most measures, but he makes up for that in toughness and grit. He also loves the team aspect of his sport and gets excited when his teammates attack on Friday nights and compete with passion and aggression.

Murphy plays an important part as an interior lineman on Swainsboro’s offensive line. His group has consistently dominated defenses and made life easier on his QB and RBs. Murphy also sees time on the defensive line and does a great job battling in the trenches.

Like many of his teammates, he has lofty goals for this team. Winning region last season and being on track to do so again this season isn’t the final goal that he has set his sights on.

“My goal is to win a state championship,” said Murphy.

That’s the type of attitude necessary for pushing limits and doing big things. Murphy is one senior who isn’t afraid to put his heart on the line and lay it all out their each and every Friday night to push his team towards that goal.
