Mrs. Sandra Faye Durden Brooks entered into her eternal rest on January 3, 2021. Graveside service was held Saturday, January 9, at 2 p.m. in the Stillmore Cemetery with Rev. E. Muriel Bell officiating.
Mrs. Brooks was born May 22, 1954, to the late Ellie Eason Durden Sr. and Nonia Mae McKinnie Durden. At an early age, she joined the First Baptist Church in Stillmore where she served as church secretary and was a member of the choir. Mrs. Brooks graduated from ECI in 1972, and went on to obtain a degree in Business Administration from Jones College in Jacksonville, FL. She also attended STC, majoring in Business Education/Clerical. Mrs. Brooks married Alvin Brooks, Jr. on November 18, 1977.
Left to cherish her memories are one step-daughter, Maria (Rita) Smith of Swainsboro; two godchildren, Rashonda Bell of Vidalia and Michael Pau Kelly of Stillmore; three brothers, Carl G. Durden (Gwendolyn) of Woonsocket, RI, Alphonso Durden, Sr. of Stillmore, and James Durden of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Cubie D. Watson of Detroit, MI, Janice Freeman (Willie) of Jacksonville, FL, and Dedra R. Durden of Stillmore; a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
