SHS senior Talondrea Robertson signed a letter of intent Wednesday, May 12, to play basketball for the Bobcats of East Georgia State College. Here is a story of grit and determination since she only played basketball for the Tigers her freshman and senior years. Head Lady Tigers Coach Alex Walden said, “She was out her sophomore and junior years due to injuries and other medical issues, but came back her senior year and showed what she was made of.” Assistant Coach Rosey Young echoes, “She has the biggest heart on the team is truly a team player.” Talondrea was named Best Defensive Player for 2020-2021.
The signing ceremony was held in the media center and was attended by Talondrea’s mother, Cenondrea Coney, along with coaches Walden, Young, Cindy Brett, and Virgil Swinney. Also present were Principal Denise Warnock, Assistant Principal Brandon Andrews, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Ron Hirst, Counselor Monica Pace, and several other faculty members. Talondrea’s fellow Lady Tigers, members of the boys’ basketball team, and classmates also attended to show their support.
