Mrs. Rita Herrington, 72, of Kite passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at her residence following an extended illness. Graveside service was held Thursday, November 19, at 3 p.m. at Kite City Cemetery with Reverend Allen Meeks officiating.
Mrs. Herrington was born August 5, 1948 to the late George Willis and Bertha Scarboro Willis. She was a member of Kite Church of God. Mrs. Herrington is preceded in death by her parents and stepson, Timmy Herrington.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, William Herrington of Kite; son, Joey (Terri) Burke of Swainsboro; daughter, Donna (Ricky) Newsome of Swainsboro; stepchildren, Matt (Jeanette) Herrington of Darien, Michael Herrington of Vidalia, and Denise (Raymond) Wingrove of Alabama; brother, Charlie Willis of Kite; sisters, Georgia Mae Palicka of Scott and Linda Ensley of Silva, NC; grandchildren, Caitlin (Cole) Fluet, Whitley (Chris) Clifton, Christian Newsome, Analise Newsome, Bailey Burke, Hayden Burke, and Banks Burke; great-grandchildren, Berklie Bishop, Briggston Buxton, Bream Buxton, Bryer Price, Kade Durden, Gracie Durden, Boe Clifton, Bella Clifton, Rylan Clifton; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
