Reese, Watson and Walden place first in GRPA State Track and Field Meet

Twenty-three boys and girls represented Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department (SECRD) in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) State Track and Field Meet held April 30 and May 1 at Jefferson Memorial Stadium in Jefferson. Three came home with first place medals.
SECRD participants finishing first in the state track meet were Genesis Reese in the 8U Girls 50 meter; Emery Watson in the 8U Boys 50 meter; and McKinley Walden in the 10U Girls Standing Long Jump. Genesis also placed second in the 8U Girls 100 meter and Running Long Jump. Emery also brought home a third place medal in the 8U Boys 100 meter and an 8th place medal in the Softball Throw.
Treasure Phillips earned a third place medal in the 12U Girls Softball Throw and Franklin Barnes received a fourth place medal in the 12U Boys 100 meter and 200 meter. Franklin also placed fifth in the Running Long Jump.
Also receiving medals in the 12U Boys division were Demauri Roberts, who placed sixth in the Softball Throw, and Javari Williams, who placed sixth in the Standing Long Jump.
All three SECRD relay teams were top finishers in the event. The 10U Boys 4x100 Relay Team consisting of K.J. Coleman, Zi’Len Boynton, Caleb Jones and Gavin Jones placed third. The 12U Boys 4x100 Relay Team made up of Demauri Roberts, Franklyn Barnes, Jeffery Davis and Javari Williams placed third. The 12U Girls 4x100 Relay Team of Kamiya Freeman, Treasure Phillips, Kali Brown and Savannah McKinney finished fourth.
Also representing SECRD in the GRPA State Track and Field Meet were Taylor Clark, Cameron Williams, Braylen Handsom, Jada McKinney and Trinity Hayden-Smith. Others qualifying to compete were India Hoover, Daveyhon Williams and Tyrone Hoover. Assisting at the event were SECRD staff members Daphne Strobridge, Clifford Williams and David Coleman.
All participants qualified to compete in the GRPA State Track and Field Meet by placing first or second in the GRPA First District Track and Field Meet held April 17 in Swainsboro.
