On Monday, September 13, at approximately 11:50 am, a clerk at the Marathon Convenience Store in Stillmore was robbed at gun point. The suspect left in a silver Honda Accord on Highway 57 toward Swainsboro. A Stillmore police officer caught up to the suspect. Noticing the officer’s approach, the suspect hung his arm out the window and fired several shots hitting and disabling the Stillmore PD patrol vehicle. An Emanuel County deputy came in contact with the involved Honda and gave chase. The pursuit never left the Hwy. 1 Bypass and ended after the driver lost control of the vehicle, spinning out at the intersection of U.S. 1 bypass and Highway 57. The driver, identified as Desi Lee Hyman Jackson of Warthen, surrendered without further incident.

The investigation is being conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia State Patrol and the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office. The Swainsboro Police Department assisted with the pursuit.
