According to Elections Director Kerry Curry, the primary election originally set for next month has been postponed due to COVID-19 implications. The decision was made by state officials Thursday, April 9.

Early voting for the primary will now begin May 18, and the deadline to early vote is June 5. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voters may also cast their votes Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early voting must be done at the Emanuel County Elections Office.

Election Day has been scheduled for June 9. As previously reported, voters who plan to cast their ballots that Tuesday should report to their designated polling places. Hours for regular voting, as always, are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The primary was originally scheduled for May 19 with early voting starting April 27. Look to The Blade and Emanuel County Live for any additional changes that may occur in the next few weeks.
