Mrs. Peggy Watson Braswell, 72, of Swainsboro, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro following an extended illness. Funeral services were Thursday, March 25, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating. Interment followed in Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Chapman Funeral Home. In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6-feet rule was enforced during visitation and service.

Pallbearers will be Travis Akridge, Ryan Kersey, Jerry Jones, Jared Chalker, Richard Jones, and Dale Cannady.

Mrs. Braswell was born December 30, 1948, in Metter, to the late Walter Buford Watson “Pete” and Mary Lawson Watson. She attended Emanuel County Institute, Central Georgia Technical College, East Georgia College, and Swainsboro Technical College. Mrs. Braswell was a master cosmetologist and a former owner/operator of a salon. She retired in March of 2018 from Southeastern Technical College with 41 years. Mrs. Braswell received multiple Instructor of the Year Nominee Awards. She also received Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year Award and got multiple nominations by the Cosmetology Educators of America for Educator of the Year. Mrs. Braswell was the Skills USA Vica Advisor, and served as Chairperson for STC Faculty Council and also for the East Central Consortia of Cosmetology Instructors. She was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Braswell is preceded in death by her parents; infant son; and brother, Jeff Watson.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Braswell of Swainsboro; sons, Clint (Nickole) Braswell of Adrian and Dave (Debra) Henry of Twin City; stepdaughter, Tammy Chalker of Swainsboro; stepsons, Chris Braswell of Milledgeville and Barry Braswell of Adrian; grandchildren, Jared Chalker of Swainsboro, Hannah Henry of Twin City, and Maggie Rae Braswell of Adrian; great-grandson, Braiden Chalker; brother, Joe (Linda) Watson of Twin City; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
