Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Paula Ann Peebles Wheeler, age 64, of Dellwood, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brad McKenzie and Rev. Curt Grimm officiating. Interment followed in the Lamb’s Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday, March 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers were Jason Claxton, Davy Reynolds, Matt Reynolds, Jared Peebles, Justin Peebles, and Josh Peebles. Honorary pallbearers were Employees of Capro/Kongsberg.

Mrs. Wheeler was born February 23, 1959, in Louisville, to the late L.F. and Ethel Skinner Peebles. She was employed with Capro/Kongsberg Manufacturing for many years. Paula was a loving wife, mother, and MiMi to her three wonderful grands, and all their friends. MiMi attended every ballgame, pageant, band concert, or sporting event, where her grandchildren participated. She was a great cook. Coconut Cake, pound cake and banana pudding were her specialties and she was territorial of her kitchen when she was cooking. Paula had a very caring nature, always putting others before herself. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, and making wreaths and blankets. The mountains and beach were her happy places. Paula was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wheeler is preceded in death by sisters, Janie Jones and Barbara English; brothers, Edward Peebles, Larry Peebles, Danny Peebles, Donny Peebles, and Ronny Peebles.

Survivors include her loving husband of 47 & 1/2 years, Paul Wheeler of Dellwood; daughters, Cecilia “CeCe” Pullen (Zach) of Twin City and Marcia Arrington (Jason) of Midville; sisters, Betty Gene Claxton and Joann Reynolds (Terry), both of Swainsboro; brothers, Joseph “Joey” Peebles (Vickie) and Jimmy Dean Peebles, both of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Brittney Arrington, Dane Arrington, and Andrea Pullen; God children, Brandon Bryant and Kaitlyn Cowart; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to “Aunt Bete” Claxton, Beverly and Jason Claxton, Jennie Claxton, and Sam Honeycutt for their selfless care of Paula and her family through the last few months.
