East Georgia State College (EGSC) is excited to announce Courtney Patterson has been named Chief of Staff and Legal Counsel for the College. In this role, Patterson will be responsible for providing legal advice and operations management advice, including risk analysis, to facilitate optimal decision-making. She will also work with college leadership, faculty, staff, EGSC Foundation members, and community leaders to promote the mission and priorities of the College.

A Swainsboro native and current resident, Patterson attended and graduated from Swainsboro High School and East Georgia State College before continuing her education at Georgia Southern University, where she majored in Political Science. She then earned her Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law.

Having obtained licenses to practice law in Georgia and Texas, Patterson began her career in Emanuel County as Staff Attorney to the Superior Court judges. Following that clerkship, she continued her career in public service as an Assistant District Attorney. She served in that capacity in various offices across Texas and Georgia for the past ten years.

“Having begun my academic career at East Georgia as a student, I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to return to this remarkable place as a member of the staff,” said Patterson. “I look forward to supporting the success of the College and its students in every way possible.”
