A 29-year-old male from Brunswick was serious injured on Tuesday afternoon, June 1. He was operating a Honda sedan eastbound on I-16 when the vehicle travelled over 300 feet off the roadway before impacting head-on into a large tree. The force of the crash pushed part of the motor into the passenger compartment, causing injury to his lower extremities. Due to the nature of male’s injuries, he was transported by EMS to Augusta University Medical Center.
The vehicle caught fire and was totally destroyed, and approximately a half-acre of brush burned. Swainsboro firefighters from Engine 200 were assisted by Oak Park Fire Department. Emanuel Sheriff’s deputies assisted with traffic control while a Post 19 Georgia State Patrol trooper investigated the crash.
