Oh, Deer!!!

Posted

Saturday evening, February 13, was typical of our recent weather. Cold, Damp and Drizzle. Shortly after 8:40 p.m., a Ford F-150 pickup truck was headed east on Canoochee Road before Brinson Cemetery Road. Suddenly, a deer appeared directly in front of the truck. The male driver, from East Dublin swerved to the right to avoid striking the animal. However, he found he was now on the wet and muddy shoulder of the roadway. As he attempted to gain control of the vehicle, he slid sideways across the roadway and ended up in the pond.
Around 8:45 p.m., Emanuel County EMS medics, firefighters with Engine 200 from Swainsboro, Engine 312 from Canoochee, two sheriff’s deputies, a trooper from GSP Post 19 and a tow truck descended on the scene. There were no injuries, the truck received a mud bath and the deer lived to try again!
