Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Newkirts celebrated their 50th family reunion on the Fourth of July, highlighting the oldest living sibling, Dr. John Cleveland Newkirt Sr. of Garfield. His is one of Paul and Eldora Newkirt Sr.’s children.
The complete list of siblings includes: Willie Brown, Paul Jr., George, Theodosia, Pauline, Corrine, Benjamin “Uncle B.F.” Franklin, John Cleveland, Adel, Bertha, Melrose, Roberta, Rogers, Harvey, Evelyn, Marchia Raye, and William, also known as “Uncle Jack.”
Five of Paul Jr.’s children were present for the event. These individuals were: John Willie, also known as “Pete,” Vergil, Kathy, Bertha, and Randell.
A host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were present for the reunion held in Garfield, from where the family’s roots originate.
The Newkirt Family strongly believes that a family that prays together stays together and gives all credit to God, stating “To God be the glory for the things He has done.”
