The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 9:15 a.m. in the George L Smith II room. with Chair John Tapley presiding and 40 members in attendance. The main topic of discussion was the placing of the very small U.S. Flags on the veteran's graves at five cemeteries this Saturday, December 3, to mark the placement of the Wreaths on December 17th. The group had two new veterans to attend their Monday morning breakfast: Lenard Richards and Elbert Austin. Richards is a veteran of the U.S. Army who served from 1972 through 1977, while serving in the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA. His service was during the Vietnam Era and Europe. He sustained combat or service-related injuries and obtained the rank of E-5. Austin is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard. He served from October 12, 1955, through October 2, 1959, which included service in the 165th Air National Guard in Savannah, GA. He obtained the rank of A/2.
