Posted

Emanuel County E911/EMA Director Martha Culbreth shares the following update released by National Weather Services:

What has changed:

  • There is a Marginal Risk for severe storms on Thursday over parts of middle Georgia

Bottom Line Up Front:

  • Limitedlow level moisture and instability will likely precludewidespread severe weather late Wednesday night and Thursday. However, there could be some isolated strong to possibly severe storms with damaging winds over central Georgia mainly Thursday morning.
  • In addition to the storm threat, strongwinds in advance of the system may cause winds to gusts of 30 to 40 mph in the higher elevations of north Georgia late Wednesday night and Thursday  and may down some trees and power lines
  • Widespread heavy rainfall or flooding is not expected with this system. Total amounts through Friday will average 0.5-1.5 inches with higher amounts possible over middle Georgia where heavier storms could develop.
