The Blade supports the U.S. Military and is always obliged to highlight our local servicemen and service women. With high honor today that we showcase former marine PFC Chris Peacock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peacock of Swainsboro.
During the presidential term of Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan, Peacock was selected to serve as a member of the HMX-1 Presidential Executive Support Squad – one of the highest honors of armed services. Due to his scholastic scores and high moral standards, Peacock was recommended for the position by school officers while attending naval school in Memphis, Tennessee.
In a newspaper clipping submitted my Chris’ mother, Kay, the former marine expressed his thoughts on his 4-year assignment, stating that it was an honor to be chosen, “Not only for myself, but for my hometown of Swainsboro.”
Peacock is a 1982 graduate of Swainsboro High School, a naval aid maintenance graduate of the naval academy in Memphis, Tennessee. He also graduated from Trestin, California’s helicopter training courses.
