Posted

Shortly after midnight on July 11, Emanuel County EMS, sheriff’s deputies, Swainsboro firefighters, and police officers were dispatched to Glenwood Road and Lindsey Road for a single-vehicle crash.

Units arrived to find a red Ford Explorer XLT SUV had left the roadway, flattened a city limits sign, and rolled over. No operator was located at the scene. However, the front passenger seat was now occupied by a fire hydrant that had penetrated through the roof and side of the vehicle.

Rescue 1 responded with the eDraulic cutter and personnel from JACOBS were requested due to possible damage to the hydrant during the removal of the vehicle.

Investigation continues as to the identity of the driver and cause of the crash.
