Mr. Michael Edward “Mack” Rogers, 68, of Swainsboro, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at Memorial Health in Savannah following an extended illness. The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 7, at Chapman Funeral Home. Memorial service will be private at a later date.
Mr. Rogers was born May 29, 1953, in Soperton, to the late Otis Rogers and Annie Ruth Chapel Rogers. He enjoyed playing the guitar and camping, and loved to cook, especially mac and cheese. Mr. Rogers loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward Rogers, Ray Rogers, and June Bug Rogers; and sister, Sybil Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Collins Rogers; sons, Michael (Jennifer) Rogers of Soperton, Charles (Ellen) Akridge, Dennis Akridge, and David (Betsy) Akridge, all of Swainsboro; daughters, Billie-Jo Eason and Melissa (Wesley) Manning, both of Soperton, Doris (Joe) Colston of Bartow, and Susan (David) Akridge of Wrightsville; brother, Mindell Rogers of Adrian; sister, Mary Shurling of Soperton; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
