FOR THE FIRST TIME…

The mayor and council of the City of Swainsboro held their first council meeting in the new City Hall Monday night. The city’s facilities were moved into the old Citizens Bank Building over the weekend. Pictured are City Clerk Grady Price, Councilmen Al Lawson, Lamar Anderson, and W.H. Rountree, Mayor R.J. Waller, Jr., City Attorney Sid Sheppard, and Councilmen Roger Shaw, Calvin McGowan, and Raymond Riner.

LAST TIME AROUND

Dana Cassidy Kent, age four, experienced his first and last train ride on the Nancy Hanks. Son of MR. and Mrs. Dana Kent of Wadley, he was among those passengers riding the Nancy during its last run Friday. He rode the train from Wadley to Macon. A memento of the trip is a cap Dana is wearing which is one of those left over from some 50 years ago, when they were given as souvenirs to the train’s young passengers.
