KENNEDY/KIRKLAND SIGN WITH EGC

Luke Kennedy and Dustin Kirkland signed with the EGC Bobcat Baseball Team. Both are from Swainsboro, graduated from SHS, and planned to pursue a degree in physical education. Both also got their start playing Swainsboro Dixie Youth Baseball. Kennedy played second and third base with SHS and Kirkland played as catcher and outfielder. Pictured are SHS Coaches Ashley Hooks, Rob Gray, Rusty Kea, EGC Baseball Head Coach Chuck Lusted, and SHS Coach Corey Chalker.

BAND OF GOLD MARCHES AT DISNEY
The Swainsboro High School Band of Gold traveled to Disney World in Orlando May 12-14 to take part in the Dreams Come True parade. The team was accepted after band director, Barry Golden, submitted a tape of a football game halftime show. In full uniform, the band, followed by a high school from New Jersey, performed their parade routine through the Magic Kingdom. The students were also treated theme park visits at Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom. Sixty-two band and Danceline members attended the event accompanied by Golden, assistant band director Gene Hundley, and Danceline coaches Toney Golden and Rylan Smith. Chaperoning the event were Mark and Lynn Stevens, Steven Golden, and Jesse Garrett, Dorothy Young, Jamie and Brenda Crews, Cliff Smith, Molly Smith, and Brenda Henry.
