Basic techniques
R.W. Hooks of Swainsboro Floral Company taught basic techniques of creative flower arranging in a continuing education course, “Floral Design”, at Emanuel County Junior College beginning March 31. Classes met from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday for five weeks.



At White House reception
Blade Editor and Mrs. Bill Rogers were among members of the National Newspaper Association invited to a reception at the White House. Photographed were NNA Executive Vice President Mel Street and Mrs. Street, NNA Immediate Past President Bill Rogers, Sr. and Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Reagan, President Reagan, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Williams. Mr. Williams served as chairman of the NNA Government Affairs Conference held in Washington during the week of March 9 – 14. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Morgan of Swainsboro were also among those invited to the reception. Mr. Morgan was a columnist for The Blade.
