From the August 25, 1971 edition of The Forest-Blade:

BASS BITING!
The skillet wasn’t quite hot enough, so the Boatrights took time to pose with the string of bass caught in a local pond. The string tipped the scales at over 12 pounds. Holding the fish are George Boatright of Belvedere, SC, and his father, Rudy Boatright of Swainsboro. Getting in the picture are George’s sons, Mike and Ernie. Mr. Boatright said, “the big one got away!”

GEORGIA’S FIRST
Sylvania Police Chief W.H. Black was the first Georgian to receive the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal. Col. George W. Torbert presented the medal to Chief Black as Mayor John A. Mills Jr. looked on. Only 20 such honors had been awarded in the nation.
