STAT CAT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED
The 1st annual Danny “Stat Cat” Henry Athletic Scholarship was presented to Luke Kennedy and Lani Garrett at the “Meet the Tigers” event held at SHS Aug. 18. Kennedy and Garrett earned the scholarship by having a 3.0 GPA or higher, participating in at least 3 years of high school sports, having four references, and writing an essay. Their checks were presented by Swainsboro Booster Club Vice President Lee Stewart.
POST 103 HONORS NATIONAL GUARD
Swainsboro Post 103, on Aug. 6, distributed “Welcome Home” coins to local National Guard. These Guardsman returned in Oct. 2010 from Afghanistan, but with their training schedule, it took almost a year to get them all together so the coins could be presented. The coins are given individually and never as a mass offering. It is presented with a hearty handshake and a commitment to support those who are willing to stand in harm’s way to protect our freedoms. We thank our Guardsmen for the work they do, whether here at home or abroad.
