From the April 21, 1971 edition of The Forest-Blade:

Looking over equipment
Officials of Pineland Telephone Cooperative looked over some of the complicated new equipment installed in the firm’s Twin City exchange. Looking over the “grading board” were J.T. Mathis, Jr. of Twin City, director; Earl Kidd of Metter, general manager of Pineland; ad Reginald Lanier of Metter, president.

‘That’s great!’
Father Judson Mayfield, chairman of the “We Care” steering committee, happily accepted a check from Samuel Thomas, a counselor at Swainsboro High School. Mr. Thomas made his contribution toward the establishment of a public child day care center during a meeting at the First Baptist Church April 12.
