SHS soil-judging team takes championship in state finals
The Swainsboro FFA Chapter’s Soil Judging team won first place in the State Soil Judging contest held at Gray, GA. Scoring 592 points, the local team, representing District II, eliminated teams from Marion County in District I, Blue Ridge in District II, and Coweta County in District IV.



Glada Hooks selected as counselor for 4-H camp
Glada Hooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. JW Hooks, Swainsboro, was selected by the state 4-H Club office, Agricultural, Extension Service, University of Georgia, Athens, to be a counselor at 4-H camp. Some 150 outstanding 4-H Club members throughout the state applied for the 53 jobs available during the camping season. Counselors are selected on their dependability, leadership, initiative, and overall personality.
