Mayor Schwabe to seek another term

Mayor Charles Schwabe is, today, formally announcing his plan to run for re-election to the office of Mayor of Swainsboro.  The City election will be held Nov. 2, 2021 and will decide three council seats as well as the Mayoral position. 
Schwabe commented, " I am very appreciative of all the support I have received in leading this City in the past. Everything we have accomplished has been a team effort, and I will continue to rely on that spirit in the future. This is a crucial time in the life of Swainsboro. We have multiple projects now underway that will bring big changes to our city. We need to keep moving and complete the work."
Mayor Schwabe is a life-long resident of Swainsboro. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, Past Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Swainsboro Emanuel County Joint Development Authorities, former member of the Swainsboro Planning and Zoning Commission, former President of Swainsboro Rotary Club and the Swainsboro Jaycees, past member of the Buick Motor Division Dealer Council and a member of the General Motors Society of Automotive Professionals.  Schwabe was appointed to the Election Reform Commission of the Georgia Secretary of State and served as a member of the WorkforceTask Group of the Georgia Municipal Association.
Mayor Schwabe retired following 25 years as the owner of Schwabe Motor Company. He and his wife, Jean, are members of the First Methodist Church of Swainsboro. They have two sons, Clarke and daughter-in-law Devin, and Phillip.
