Marvin Thomas “Tom” Reese peacefully entered into his heavenly home Wednesday March 15, 2023, at Blackville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Blackville S.C. A graveside memorial service was held at Moxley Methodist Church Cemetery Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m. with Rev David Brown officiating. The family received friends after the memorial service at the graveside in keeping with Tom's love of the outdoors.

Born to the late Clara Thomas Moseley and Marvin Lester Reese, Tom grew up in rural Jefferson County and attended Louisville Academy. He lived most of his adult life in Midville. Tom met and married the love of his life, Martha “Mot” Winburn, and they lived between North Augusta SC, where she owned a home, and his home in Midville. Tom had many jobs, from working on the farm, trucking, selling produce and then in the pine straw business. He loved the outdoors from the time he could be outside on his own, being an avid hunter of anything from squirrels, rabbits, racoon, deer, frogs, and especially fish. One of Tom’s favorite places was the banks of the Ogeechee River. He was most happy in open spaces and that directed him into the trucking business, as there he could always be on the move. After Tom married Mot, who he affectionately called Mama, he had many happy years as they trucked together, and then in the pine straw business in North Augusta working side by side. No one loved people more than Tom - he never met a stranger and would start a conversation as if he had known them for years. He was involved in a trucking ministry and loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Later in life, Tom’s goal was to tell everyone just how much he loved Jesus and was ready to see Him whenever Jesus was ready for him to come home. Mr. Reese is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Floyd and Julia Thomas.

Mr. Reese is survived by his beloved wife, Martha “Mot” Winburn Reese; step-sons, Douglas Deriso Winburn (Liza) and Kenneth Wade Winburn (Danielle); granddaughters, Haley and Brooklyn; Charles “Trip” H. Winburn III; sisters, Linda Louise Reese and Pauline Moseley Weeks (Bobby); nieces, Stacie Jopling (David) and Julia Kay (Ben); great-nephews, James Benjamin Kay V and Robert Weeks Kay.
