Mrs. Martha Lee Way, 72, of Swainsboro, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Emanuel County Nursing Home in Swainsboro following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, at 3 p.m. at Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church with Reverend Morris Brantley officiating. Interment followed in Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 27, at Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church.
Pallbearers were Dustin Brantley, Scotty Way, Roy Morris, Ray Allen, Curtis Wheeler, Chris Way, Steven Way and Brad Kirby.
Mrs. Way was born June 22, 1950, in Swainsboro, to the late Floyd Giles and Margaret L. Brantley Arnsdorff. She was a member of Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church. Mrs. Way enjoyed singing gospel music in the church. She always had a car full of children to bring to church and was faithful to work in the nursery. Mrs. Way loved crafting and watching her grandchildren play in the yard for hours. One of the most joyous things she got out of life was helping others. Mrs. Way is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Giles and Speedy Giles; and stepfather, Alfred Arnsdorff.
Mrs. Way is survived by her husband, Gibson Way of Swainsboro; sons, Tommy E. Way (Robin) and Giles Way (Kassie), both of Swainsboro; brothers, Russell Giles (Tammy) of Oklahoma, Gerald Giles (Angie) and Harris Giles (Debra), both of Swainsboro; sisters, Judy Beckworth, Faye Skipper (Donny), Carolyn Braswell (Phillip) and Ethel Jones (Kenny Wayne), all of Swainsboro; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
