Tomlinson Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Marie R. Johnson, age 80, of Swainsboro, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at her residence. Funeral services were held Friday, September 23, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Cail Pressey officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to service time. Interment was private.
Mrs. Johnson was born November 5, 1941, in Emanuel County, to the late Elton Roberson and Vondelle Turner Roberson Sherrod. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Hawhammock Baptist Church. Mrs. Marie was retired from the Emanuel County School System. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony Johnson; brother, Jack Roberson; and sister, Dot Dykes.
Survivors include her daughter, Angie Sanchez (Tony) of Atlanta; granddaughter, Hannah Sanchez of Atlanta; three sisters, Wanda Youngblood (Wyatt) of Swainsboro, Vicki Sherrod of Swainsboro, and Roma Roberts of St. Louis, MO; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Georgia Baptist Children's Home 9420 Blackshear Hwy, Baxley, GA 31513.
Tomlinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
