Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Margaret Curl Martin, age 91, of Swainsboro, who passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Community Hospice House of Vidalia, surrounded by loving family. Funeral services were Monday, November 21, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Pearce officiating, assisted by Rev. Billy Brinson. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment followed in the Eastbrook Mausoleum & Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tim Garrett, Larry Hall, Jimmy May, Andy Freeman, Tommy Freeman, Elmer Thompson, William Nasworthy, and Scotty Nasworthy. Honorary Pallbearers were the Hillcrest Baptist Church Join Hands Sunday School Class, Dr. Doug Wilkinson and family, Dr. Donny Wilson, Johnny Allen, Penton Allen, Charles Henry, Rev. Ray Jenkins, Lynward Hooks, R. W. Hooks, Billy Boulineau, Joey Peebles, Allen Bevill, John D. Scott, Freddy McVey, Jimmy Flanders, Randall Snellgrove, Cathy and Jerry Stephens, Keith Claxton and Phoebe Stewart.

Mrs. Martin was born March 28, 1931, in Swainsboro. She attended Swainsboro High School and worked at Plaza Pharmacy as a Clerk/Bookkeeper for 50 plus years. Mrs. Margaret was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of Swainsboro, where she and her late husband devoted years of service to the Lord. Mrs. Martin is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Roger Franklin Martin, Sr.; son, Roger Franklin Martin Jr.; father, John Allen “Dock” Curl; mother; Leila Alma Peebles Curl; brothers, Pfc. Johnny Marlon Curl and Barney Graham Curl; and son-in-law, Johnny Ware.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Martin Ware of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Jody Martin Ware (Jennifer) of Swainsboro, Johnna Marlin Ware Eaton (Justin) of Statesboro, Roger Franklin Martin III (Victoria) of Swainsboro, and Brandy Gavetti (Nick) of Swainsboro; great-grandchildren, Madison Padgett and Harper Ware of Swainsboro, Khloe Moore and Elin and Ellis Eaton of Statesboro, and Amelia Jayne Martin of Swainsboro; daughter-in-law, Jayne N. Martin of Swainsboro; and niece, Bonnie Jo Curl Parker of Louisville (son, Robert).
