Lurie Lee Pullens gained her wings on July 1, 2021, after a long illness. Burial was at Coleman Chapel A.M. E. Church.
Ms. Pullens was born August 6, 1926, to the late Clifford and Laura Mae Bivins in Wrightsville. They later moved to Swainsboro and she attended school at Coleman Chapel A.M.E. Church at an early age. Ms. Pullens was a stewardess and the mother of the church. She also served on the Trustee Board, and sang in Coleman Chapel A.M.E. and Lester Grove Baptist Church choirs. Ms. Pullens was also a member of Jethro Council #1 of Swainsboro, and worked at Smith Clinic and Creston shirt factory for several years. At an early age, she married Jay Pullens and they had 11 children. Ms. Pullens is preceded in death by her sons, Bonnie Marvin “Sonny” Pullens and Leroy “Tennie” Pullens; daughters, Brenda Stewart, Christine Bell, Sarah Cain, Helel Williams, and Evangelist Barbara Tillman.
Ms. Pullens leaves to cherish her memories with Geraldine “Pumpkin: Turner of Marietta, Wynie “Mickey” King, Diane Pullens, and Phyllis Strobridge of Swainsboro; son-in-laws, Elder Jerry Williams and Randy Tillman of Swainsboro; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
