Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Loretta Martin Keen Meeks, age 95, of Swainsboro, on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Scott Health and Rehab in Adrian. Graveside services were held Friday, January 27, at 2 p.m. in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Tom Osborne officiating.

Pallbearers were Tripp Keen, Jordy Carter, Brian Carter, Brent Carter, Evan Carter and J. B. Carter.

Mrs. Meeks was born March 22, 1927, to the late Hines and Emma Dee Horton Martin in Kite. She graduated Kite High School and was employed with Harrison’s Pharmacy for 30 plus years. Mrs. Meeks was a great cook and her greatest accomplishment and joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a member of the Swainsboro First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Meeks is preceded in death by her husbands, Freddie L. Keen, the father of her children, and Forrest Meeks; daughter, Donna Keen Barr; granddaughter, Jammie Keen; son-in-law, Wayne Carter; sisters, Ethel Harrell, Ruth Faircloth, and Belle Brady; brothers, W. D. Martin, Joby Martin, Sam Martin, and Hines Martin.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Carter of Metter; sons, Rawlins Keen (Betsy) of Sardis, Hines Keen (Regina) of Kite, and Freddie Keen of Metter; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.
