I’d like to give a shout-out to the Emanuel County Health Department. On August 28, I received a call informing me that someone I had been in contact with seven days prior had tested positive for COVID-19. I immediately began thinking of who all I had been in contact with during the past seven days. My primary worry was my immediate family, husband, children, and grandchildren. I notified all of them.
The next morning, August 29, my husband went to town and called to tell me that the health department was doing testing. I called the department and asked to make an appointment and was told to just come on in. There were maybe five people in front of me once arriving.
From the time I turned into the parking lot until the time I actually had the test done, everyone was so polite, cordial, and caring. The lady directing where to go, the lady helping me complete my registration online, the man directing me where to go next, and the very gentle nurse who did the actual testing were all perfect in every way. I could not have asked for a better experience to a scary situation.
I was not in line for more than 20 minutes, and the really good thing was receiving my negative results by 3 p.m. the next day.
Thank you for a job well done, Emanuel County Health Department.
