On December 20, 2022, at about 1:54 a.m., I received a phone call from my sister, Robin, that there was water “everywhere” in her apartment. I asked her where it was coming from but she could not tell me, so I said “Ok. Let me call Julie”. Julie is the apartment/property manager. In the meantime, I asked my husband to go over to Somerset Apartments to see what the problem was. According to him, the apartment was flooded and so was the apartment next door (Apt. 13). I spoke with Ms. Julie Gillis and she stated that Robin could not stay in the apartment and she was contacting Serv Pro to do the clean-up. Since my family had planned a trip out of town, Robin would have to go to a hotel. The broken pipe was not caused by anyone and I was informed by Julie that the corporate office, Investors Management Co, would pay for the hotel stay. I was later informed that this was a service that the corporate no longer did. They did offer to place her in an empty apartment that had to have her bed placed there. The other option was the dayroom sofa. Neither was an option for a 68-year-old diabetic with congestive heart disease who also uses a walker. Ms. Gillis did an excellent job keeping family updated on the condition of the apartment and when it would be ready for use again. The corporate office is another matter. Their lack of concern for their elderly and handicapped tenants is appalling.
Again, thank you Ms. Gillis for your humanity and genuine kindness toward my sister. God Bless You!
