Did you know National Dog Day is this Friday? On August 26 each year, National Dog Day encourages dog ownership of all breeds – including shelter pups! When considering adoption, adopt, don’t shop. Purebreds and mixed breeds make great additions to almost any family, and often, both breeds, young and old, can be found at local shelters, like the Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter in Swainsboro. And there’s no better time to adopt from our local shelter than this month, as all adoptions are free! Throughout the remainder of this month, Emanuel County Humane Society continues to sponsor all adoption costs at the Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter. Costs coverage includes alter, rabies vaccinations and adoption fees. The campaign began last month on July 13 and ends August 31. On Friday, August 19, the shelter reported that, so far, 26 adoptions have been made since the sponsorship began last month.
