Lemonade for a cause

On Friday, July 31, Ava Mincey of Statesboro set up a lemonade stand in front of Twin City Drug Co. Boutique and Gifts to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease while promoting her personal platform, Team Daisy.

Team Daisy was started by Mincey to honor her late great-grandmother, Daisy Littles, who lost her fight to Alzheimer’s in 2009.

Mincey’s lemonade stand at the Twin City business featured four types of lemonade flavors to choose from (regular, strawberry, pineapple, or peach) for just $1 per cup. Friday’s lemonade stand honoring Mincey’s late great-grandmother raised a total of $150. For those who purchased or donated $10 to Mincey’s campaign, Twin City Drug Co. returned the favor by offering a 10 percent discount off any store merchandise.

In addition to hosting lemonade stands, Mincey also promotes the Team Daisy campaign online, https://act.alz.org/site/TR?px=17726287&pg=personal&fr_id=13384. Using this online platform, information about Team Daisy can be found and donations can be made to help benefit the advancement of care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association by following the above link.

As of Monday, August 3, Team Daisy’s pledged goal of $2,000 has been achieved and succeeded in the amount of $2,045.
