Legislative Update: 2021 Amended Fiscal Year Budget highlights

Posted

Dear Friend,
We wrapped up another productive week in the State Senate. During the campaign, I promised to take my conservative values and business experience to the Senate. I have never wavered from that guarantee nor have I forgotten my promise to always put the hard working folks of District 4 first - ahead of the special interest groups. I will continue to work hard to deliver results for my constituents. Keep reading to find out what went on this week under the gold dome!
From JoAnn and I, we'd like to thank everyone who reached out on Monday to wish us a Happy 46th Anniversary. This job wouldn't be possible without JoAnn by my side, and I will always be blessed by her love and patience. Here is to many happy years to come!
That same day, Governor Kemp signed the Amended Fiscal Year 2021 Budget. The graphic below highlights several key areas the state wisely dedicated resources towards.

Perhaps what is most impressive about the budget is that there will be no new agency cuts, no furloughs, no layoffs, and no new taxes. This is what conservative leadership looks like from Governor Kemp and our legislative leaders.
It was my privilege to recognize Dr. Charles Bond - the first African-American faculty member at Georgia Southern University. I was delighted to thank him for his contributions to Georgia Southern and for making higher education a more inclusive place for all.
As you know, I have been committed to ending human trafficking in the Peach State and will continue to do all in my power to aid in the healing of survivors. Our First Lady has been a powerful voice and a tireless champion in the fight against the sex trade.
I am sure you have realized that I enjoy highlighting constituents who visit the Capitol every week. This week, I am recognizing Judge Michael Muldrew!
If you have plans to be in Atlanta, be sure to stop by my office. I'd love to hear from you and grab a photo. You never know who you are going to run into!
Sunday evening, I will be heading back to Atlanta for another busy week in the Senate.
