Legislative Update: Week 10

Posted

It may be hard to believe, but the 2021 Legislative Session is almost over. We have just 5 days left.
Since the start of session in January, I’ve worked on dozens of bills such as “The Tax Return on Investment Act of 2021", legislation to aid in the healing process for human trafficking survivors, help for small businesses, election reform, and importantly the budget.
While we have been working hard and have passed some great legislation, we still need to pass a final election reform bill. I promise that we will pass a final version that secures our voting process and restores faith in our elections.
I took an opportunity to pay tribute to a great Georgian from Metter, Carvy Snell, who recently passed away. Carvy was the owner and publisher of the Metter Adviser where he touched so many lives in Candler county. I was humbled to honor him in the Senate.
When I am in Atlanta during the week, I always look forward to visits from friends and neighbors. This week we had a particularly special visitor - Congressman Rick Allen!

Congressman Allen is a conservative champion and does a fantastic job representing Georgia in D.C.
While we are close to the end of session, there is still important work to do before we adjourn. This week I will be working on election reform as well as the Senate version of the June 2022 budget. If you have any questions or feedback, please reach out to me at billy.hickman@senate.ga.gov or 404-656-5035. Thank you and God bless you,

Senator Billy Hickman
