Large drug bust leads to arrest of Swainsboro resident

SPD makes arrest following 7-week investigation

At approximately 7 a.m. this morning, members of the Swainsboro Police Department’s (SPD) drug suppression unit, K-9 unit and patrol division executed two search warrants simultaneously at two separate Swainsboro addresses, 144 Arden Drive and 580 Rentz Street. The on-going investigation that began approximately seven weeks ago led to the arrest of 35-year-old Larry Maurice Corley. According to information obtained by the department, it’s believed that Corley possibly lived at both addresses and was distributing drugs from both properties.

Officers attempted to execute the first search warrant at Corley’s Rentz Street address but were unable to make contact with the alleged offender. Officers then responded to Corley’s Arden Drive address and made contact with him as he was leaving the residence. A search warrant executed at the Arden Drive address resulted in the seizure of less than an ounce of marijuana, 400.1 grams (14.11 oz.) crystal methamphetamine valued approximately $6,300 to $6,500 in street value, 43.8 grams cocaine and 11.9 grams crack cocaine. No weapons were located during the executed search warrant.

Corley was placed under arrest and transported to the Emanuel County Jail. Charges at this time include trafficking cocaine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

This case currently remains under investigation by the Swainsboro Police Department. Stay tuned, more details will be relayed as they are received.
