A 20-foot enclosed landscaper trailer was consumed by fire just before noon on Friday April 30, 2021. Swainsboro firefighters from Engines 1, 3 and 4 were greeted by heavy fire conditions on arrival on West Moring Street by Herrington Street. Quick thinking by the landscapers unhooked the trailer from their pickup truck and prevented fire extension to that vehicle. Destroyed in the fire were two Gravely zero turn mowers, along with numerous gasoline powered trimmers, blowers, chainsaws and 25 bales of pine straw. Firefighters used a 1 3/4 inch preconnected attack line to subdue the flames and control a small grass fire and trees that caught fire. Swainsboro Police assisted with traffic control on the scene.
