Lady Dawgs on three-game winning streak

After losing 4-0 to Vidalia on August 17, the Lady Dawg softball team reeled off three straight wins still playing bigger schools preparing for region play.

The Dawgs played their first region game yesterday, August 25 against Jenkins Co.

Thursday August 20 the team traveled to Waynesboro to take on Burke Co. The Dawgs defeated the Bears 10-2.

ECI jumped on the Bears for 6 runs in the top of the third and added 3 more in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. Burke scored their only 2 runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth. The Dawgs put their last run on the board in the sixth to make the final score 10-2.

Charla Clifton toed the rubber allowing 6 hits while striking out 8 bears to go the distance for the Bulldogs.

Shayla Stephenson and Mattie Grimm led ECI at the plate getting 2 hits each with 6 other Bulldogs getting a hit.

The Bulldogs spent last Friday in Cordele playing in the Crisp Co. Tournament

They left the watermelon capital taking both games they played with a 6-1 win against Cook Co. and a 5-0 defeat of Tift Co.

Like the Burke game, the Lady dawgs jumped on Cook scoring 6 runs through 5 innings. The Hornets’ only run came in the fifth inning.

Clifton once again took the win for the Bulldogs allowing just 3 hits while striking out 5 batters.

Semya Williams and Taylor Radford ended the game with 2 hits each to lead the Dawgs at the plate. Macy Canady picked up the other hit for the Bulldogs.

The Lady Dawgs blanked the 7A Tift Co. school 5-0 to take their second win of the tournament.

Jelsey Snellgrove and Charla Clifton led the offense with 2 hits. Five other Bulldogs collected one hit each.

Sullee Bodiford and Charla Clifton pitched for the Bulldogs allowing just 2 hits to the Hornets.

Another busy week on tap for the Bulldogs. Along with the Jenkins Co. game Monday, they will host McIntosh Co. on Thursday and play in the Hog Mountain Tournament in Watkinville Friday and Saturday.
