Lady Bobcats sweep ABAC in GCAA softball playoffs; Baseball Team advances to Final Four

The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats Softball Team advanced to the final four with a two-game sweep of ABAC in the GCAA Softball Tournament on Thursday, May 6 at Bobcat Field. The final score in game one was 4 to 3 and in game two the final score was 14 to 3.
The Bobcats were led by Mattie Cash in game one on the mound who allowed just five hits and three runs. At the plate, Allana Hooks, Jana Crews, Taylor Morgan, and Sierra Taylor provided key hits for the Bobcats, who would score four runs in seven innings and win game one by a score of 4 to 3.
In game two Britney Foster took the mound and completely dominated the ABAC batters allowing just three runs on four hits. At the plate the Bobcats pounded out 14 runs on 15 hits with all nine of the Bobcat starters getting at least one hit in game two. Jana Crews, Alaina Lee, Allana Hooks, Sierra Taylor, Makenzie Wilkerson, Dani Wells, Stephenie Ruffin, Taylor Morgan, and Madelyn Denning all got hits and scored runs for the Bobcats who are advancing to the Final Four in the GCAA Tournament. The Lady Bobcats will travel to Gordon State College on Tuesday for two games.
“We played our best ball of the season today,” said Head Coach Chuck Wimberly. “We came ready to play and it showed with our pitching, fielding, and hitting. I am just so proud of the way we battled in game one to get the victory and came out in game two and completely had our best day at the plate as a team for the entire season hitting the ball.”

This year, four Bobcat softball players have been named GCAA All-Conference Softball Players. Allana Hooks, Aliana Lee, Sierra Taylor and Britney Foster have all been named GCAA All-Conference Softball Players. Congratulations!
The EGSC Baseball Team defeated Georgia Highlands over the weekend by a score of 14 to 7 to advance in the winner’s bracket to Tuesday’s Final Four in Cuthbert, Georgia!
The Bobcats were led by Anthony Westbrook, who hit a grand slam in the seventh inning with the score 10 to 7. The hit increased the lead to 14 to 7 and the Bobcats never looked back in knocking off top ranked Georgia Highlands.
Cameron Oliu and Griffin McClure pitched outstanding for the Bobcats in the victory, which advances the team to the winner’s bracket.
